Vintage Strapless Gothic Dress. Prom Gown. Black with Burgundy
July 4, 2023 by admin

Vintage Strapless Gothic Dress. This screams (to me) a mix of GOTH, 80S, MADONNA, and PRETTY IN PINK. The entire dress is a soft but thick opaque black patterned material. The entirety of the bottom half of this dress has 2 of these layers. Beneath that a sheet of soft burgundy lace blankets 3-5 Lines of Burgundy tulle. This creates the voluminous “poof” found at the bottom. The back of this gown is made to look like a bustle. A large bow above the bustle is sewn on but can be removed if you desire. Side zip runs 13 1/2 down. I bought this over 20 years ago. Not able to age the dress prior to that. There are no tags. Just an awesome looking piece of history. I would say this is a size small. A size 8 if you look up the comparison of waist sizing online. Chest measurements are comparable to an xsmall but considering that neckline, a larger chest would fit. The peaks of the material that covers the chest are not hard and stiff. It’s of The same material as the dress but with sewn in channels and molded plastic to give shape and form. I became pregnant less than soon after. I was no longer and was never again… Difficult to measure with its tulle. Tulle is able to pushed down or built up depending on your taste. Entirely up to you. Does not account for the open cups. Length from highest point of v-neckline to bottom black material 51. Length from highest point of v-neckline(in the front) to longest bit of lace is 55. 49 from the top of the actual back of this dress. 11 1/2 from top v to waist. 8 from deepest part of plunge to waist. 6 1/2 from top to waist on back. 39 from waist to bottom. 42 from waist to bottom of longest lace. As seen in pictures, Needs some sewing repair on the inside of garment. They all appear to be along seams. Some tears in tulle which is not at all noticeable when wearing the gown. Easy fix for someone with basic seamstress skills.
